A span of 13 years separates my initial involvement in the renovation of this house from the most recent project. While the core objectives of each phase remained similar in both principle and complexity, they diverged significantly in aesthetic direction. The initial renovation was focused on preserving the existing flooring while enhancing functionality and maintaining traditional elegance. The second phase, conversely, sought to elevate this functionality, repositioning key elements within the space to achieve a crisp, clean, and modern-feminine ambiance. This transformation involved considerable challenges for the construction team, such as relocating all utilities across a post-tension slab. Additional enhancements included enlarging the main sink window, introducing a new window to maximize pool and mountain views, expanding sight lines from the front entrance to the great room, and reallocating space from an adjacent bathroom to enlarge the kitchen—thereby removing the tub/shower and establishing a new powder room. Previously, the breakfast nook, though charming, lacked the warmth to encourage prolonged use, and the living room felt disconnected from the rest of the home. Freed from the constraints of outdated flooring, large-format neutral porcelain tile was selected to unify the entire first floor. The design called for replacing the original dark cherry cabinetry with sleek white cabinets featuring a streamlined, modern profile. A more refined appliance suite, complemented by statement lighting and an impressive hood, guided the choice of furnishings, notably incorporating acrylic, glass, and chrome finishes. The crowning feature is an Italian marble with a bold vein pattern and subtle green accents, ensuring the interior leaves a lasting impression.
