A Minimalist Modern Remodel. What started as a simple plan to add a bathroom quickly became a journey far more complicated—and transformative—than anticipated. The first step meant moving the laundry area, but while installing new underground plumbing, disaster struck: an electrical fire swept through the house, leaving smoke damage in its wake. Suddenly, the vision shifted. Instead of just fixing what was broken, there was an opportunity to rethink the heart of the home. Embracing this challenge, we set our sights on the bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room, and the fireplace/TV wall in the great room. Our goal? To blend maximal functionality with minimalist design, making every update purposeful without overcomplicating the spaces. In the kitchen, Taj Mahal granite and sleek laminate cabinetry replaced the old, and we knocked down walls to open up the layout. The sink and cooktop found new homes, setting the stage for a more fluid workflow. Distinctive shower tiles in each bathroom added character, while consistent cabinetry and countertops tied everything together. The primary bath traded its tub for a walk-in shower, makeup vanity, and bench—a nod to modern resort living. In the great room, the TV wall took on new life with a floating granite hearth, linear gas fireplace, and understated shelves. Out of chaos came clarity. What began as a setback evolved into a complete reimagining of our space—a true embodiment of resilience and thoughtful design, tailored for the way we live today.
