The house started off with low-grade builder quality materials and was very much a closed concept floor plan. The task was to open up the spaces, infuse more color, more texture, and more storage. We removed a load bearing wall to open the floor plan into the living and dining areas. The biggest improvement came when we pushed an exterior wall to the limits of the porch to gain a mountain view and create space for gathering around the island and a unique experience in cooking and entertaining. We integrated multiple counter surfaces from quartzite, to Iroko butcher block, and manmade quartz. Two different cabinet colors were used along with a combination of paint colors, tile and wallpaper to adorn the walls. Finally, a gourmet appliance list that a trained chef would be jealous of.
