Rustic Blend
Inheriting a house which will be used mostly as a rental, but occasionally as your personal retreat is a tightrope walk between the amount of quality, cost and effort to put into the update. Ultimately, as ideas unfolded and time was taken to step back and analyze progress, it allowed for the incorporation of all of the above.

We removed the low ceilings and relocated the pantry and refrigerator to allow the cooking center to be a focal point. Changing the U-shape sink layout to an L-shape made space for a quaint island and gave better access to the eat-in nook. Moving the laundry area to the back of the house/near the bedrooms, opened the door to create a small office off the kitchen which is the hub of activity. Blended Rustic Travertine tile floors were a warm addition away from the cold rose/white ceramic floor tiles and helped pave the path towards the Rustic theme of the house. A distressed alder cabinet with unique chamfered edges was simple and interesting paired with black slate counters and handmade ceramic tile backsplash. A chiseled edge granite sink was the cherry on top of this remodel.
