Linear Living
A young couple with polar opposite ideas of look and function for this remodel made for a challenging and rewarding project. His thoughts were of a contemporary hotrod diner look and her thoughts were more casual. Both were looking for more space and better function. The easiest first step is to come up with a plan that satisfies the improved space and function. By removing a seldom used closet, the refrigerator was moved across the kitchen to allow for more counter and storage around the sink. We reapportioned the peninsula incorporating seating at one level which created a spot where people can gather or a baker can spread out to create.

Once the layout was approved, it was onto creating the look to please both of them. The colors were the easiest part to decide on, they both agreed on white and the popular grey. After utilizing Houzz for real examples of combining styles and colors we chose to stay eclectic with a contemporary high gloss white base layer with a crisp white counter that incorporated waterfall sides and a darker grey upper layer with some more traditional details. The hardware was selected to be simple and tie the two together along with the backsplash which was playfully repeated under the seating area.
