Enjoying retirement! This was a second home that was missing some of the perks newly minted in their first home. Topping the list was relocating the monstrous refrigerator that seemingly overpowered entering the space and tailoring the fit for a more built-in look with all new slate appliances. The existing cabinets and materials were newer, but of ‘builder grade’ quality and very common in nature. After determining the walk-in pantry could be removed, we were able to enlarge the footprint of the space, thus creating a new home for the refrigerator away from the main entry and maximizing cabinet storage with convenience accessories. The next step was to remove the bar height wall enhancing the new open appearance. When all was said and done, there was room enough to add a wine cooler and dedicated bar area.

Existing floor tile acted as our guide for making material and color selections. While they desired a trendy grey tone, we found a more taupe grey palette complimented the floor. To add a bit of contrast and texture we selected a color saturated slate for the backsplash and a feature wall.
