This was a small revival update meant to pay homage to the era of the neighborhood with hints of modern and all the conveniences of today. The kitchen and dining room with three doors and four windows in a small space was going to require expert space planning. The first order of business was to set our primary function locations. Re-centering the sink under the window allowed the perfect space for the dishwasher. Creating a shallow return for dish storage and the coffee station to the left of the sink gave way for a center island with proper clearances. Next, windows and doors guided the placement of the refrigerator, a perfect work triangle, and the cozy dining space was born. The goal was to maintain the feel of the cottage/colonial architecture with a modern vibe. Shades of cream and texture added depth and interest. While the striking black and white geometric pattern on the marble floor fits into almost any style of the 20’s and 30’s. A darling replica light over the modern oval table with a Crate and Barrel banquette created the perfect dining space. Looking back, we really met the details of the client’s inspiration board to the T.
